Upon collecting the vehicle, the primary driver is required to make payments and provide a security deposit using a credit card that bears their name. Therefore, using a credit card belonging to another person, including family members, is not permissible unless they are designated as the main driver. Similarly, if you wish to rent a vehicle using a corporate credit card, it must be issued in your name.

A security deposit is necessary at the time of car pickup to cover any potential costs that might arise during the rental period, such as damages to the vehicle, traffic violations, or missing fuel.

If you return the vehicle in the same condition as when you picked it up, with the same fuel level and no traffic or parking fines, the rental company will refund the security deposit. However, if there are any charges due to damages or fines, these will be taken from the deposit.

The security deposit must be secured with a credit card that is in the name of the main driver.

The security deposit amount depends on several factors, including the type of vehicle, the country of rental, and the specific supplier. You can find the exact amount required for each vehicle listed in the Rental Conditions. This information will also be clearly indicated on your rental voucher.

Additionally, some rental providers offer optional coverage packages that may reduce or even eliminate the need for a security deposit.

Whether you can rent a car without a credit card depends on the location and the rental supplier. Some suppliers do accept debit cards, but you must carefully review the Security Deposit section in the Rental Conditions. This is because while some suppliers may accept debit cards for payment, they often still require a credit card for the security deposit.

When picking up your rental vehicle, the remaining balance must typically be paid using a credit card held in the name of the main driver. Additionally, ensure that your credit card has adequate funds, is not set to expire for at least three months following the rental period, has a sufficiently high daily spending limit, and is valid for use in the country of your rental. You may also need to notify your bank about your travel plans to avoid any issues with card usage abroad.

Remember, there's a common confusion between credit and debit cards. A credit card allows you to borrow funds from the bank and pay them back later, whereas a debit card withdraws money directly from your bank account at the time of transaction. Ensure you are using a credit card as required by most rental agencies.

At the time of car pickup, you are required to pay in the local currency of the country where the rental desk is located. Due to daily fluctuations in exchange rates, the final amount charged on the day of pickup may differ slightly from what is specified on your voucher. If you use a credit card that is not denominated in the local currency, be aware that your bank may apply a currency conversion fee.

In some countries with highly volatile exchange rates, your booking might be displayed in EUR or USD, but the payment will be processed in the local currency at the prevailing exchange rate on the day you pick up the vehicle.
